Formara has always been a company
committed to doing business in an ethical and morally
correct way. In more recent years, these values are
recognised through accreditations and British Standards.
Formara’s success, built through many years, has largely
been due to the way the way our customers, staff and
other stakeholders see us. It is vitally important to us
at all levels that we continue to be seen as a company
that puts it’s responsibilities toward others at the
very top of it’s business agenda.
 Formara achieved the ISO14001
Environmental Accreditation in 2002. Having already
achieved the ISO9001 accreditation for Quality, this
provoked a development of our management systems to take
account of environmental issues. The adoption of
ISO14001 at Formara has promoted many energy saving
initiatives which have in turn cut our overheads. We
have found a strong business case for ISO14001 whilst at
the same time achieving environmental benefits.
 The
biggest material usage of Formara Printers is that of
paper. For many years, Formara have bought paper
responsibly from replenishable sources. In 2006 this
commitment was formally recognised through our
accreditation to the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
Over half the paper used at Formara is
formally recognised as being FSC or recycled (or both).
Much of the paper being used is from replenishable
sources and once the merchants gain accreditation we
would see our quoted figures increase further.

More recently Formara has been
recognised by their peers in the industry as an
environmentally conscious company. In November
2007 the British Association for Print and
Communication awarded Formara
Environmental Print Business of the Year.
 In
2008, we calculated our carbon emissions using
the tools supplied by CO2balance. We offset our
carbon emissions by working with them to invest
in a project to replace kerosene lamps in Africa
with Solar Lanterns.
We believe it is up to everyone
of us to make a difference where we can. We were
one of the first printing companies to achieve
ISO14001 and one of the first to gain the FSC
certification, both achievements that we are
immensely proud of.
We continue to invest in new
equipment which further lessens our
environmental impact through efficiency gains
across the company. For London our main delivery
vehicles are LPG powered, significantly reducing
emissions and contributing to a cleaner London.
